I named this section capturing moment because it is centred mainly on photography. I would have started this section with how i began my journey into photography but it won’t be like the new Experience I promised in the about page and it will just be a boring story but nevertheless we are going to be talking about it someday.
In Photography, only few people care about the process, we all just want to see the person on the other side of the camera (WE, photographers are pained, little to no credit is given to the photographer) but that doesn’t stop us from creating because for us “Creating is like living”.
It takes the effort of a low skilled photographer or Model, poor working condition or inadequacy/deficit of resources for a bad photograph to created. But today I’ll be talking about the model as she/he is the main picture.
PS: Model in this case is not that cute slim female or male with soft baby skin and long legs or plus size models we see on magazines or television.
So you have an upcoming shoot and you are just there with hopes or you have gone on a shoot and didn’t post the picture on the gram because it would give us sore eyes (I’ve been through that before), well SAY NO MORE. You probably did few things wrong and well, I am here to tell you those things and how to go about it, these things has helped me and I’m sure it will help you too.
So before you go for a photoshoot here is a list of things you should do:
- SLEEP: YES,sleep. Your birthday or wedding might be in days or weeks but “what shall it profit a man if he loses sleep and still have bad pictures”. Catch as much zzz’s as you can. To have restful nights of sleep starting at least 3 days before your photography session can help put your mind and body at ease and can also help get rid of those dark circles around your eyes. Sleep oooo!
- Get your clothes and accessories ready: This should be planned alongside the location. I don’t want to give you ideas of contrasting wears and location just comment one awkward situation in the comment section. A Mechanic who wants a picture for a billboard to promote his business won’t take a picture in his overall with his tools in the kitchen? Well, these days everything is a STYLE.
- Practice your pose in front of mirror or camera: Practice your pose in front of a phone camera/mirror if you don’t want your shoot to end in tears. Sometimes our poses are so off and we don’t know our angles (maybe I’ll write on posing soon) then we blame the innocent photographer for our posing. There is no crime in practising various poses in front of a mirror. Go online. It might sound as if you are trying too hard but please do.
- Have a backup plan: Always be ready with a backup plan just in case the weather goes bad on the day of your photo shoot or if something happens at the last minute. Things like; disappointing Tailors or makeup artist. Especially tailors,we love you, but stop promising and failing and stop making us experience the what I ordered versus what I got.

- 5 Bring a cheering squad: On the very day of your big photography session, bring your own little posse of fans. They can be close friends and relatives – people who will surround you with nothing but positive vibes during your session. These people will help lift your spirits up during the entire shoot. We’re sure these people will also not mind if you request them to be your personal assistants…at least for the day.

And in case you don’t have anyone to help you do that, I’m here for you at an affordable price, simply click this Instagram and DM.
6. Make sure you get a Professional Photographer: Look for quality not amount.
We know “Uncle Soji Foto Studio” charges only 100 naira per picture but is his image quality good enough and “Lens Owner Imagery” charges 3000 naira per picture does that mean you will be happy after?
Low price doesn’t mean poor image quality and High price doesn’t mean quality image. Look at your photographer’s past shots and decide. Go for something within your budget but with good quality.
DISCLAIMER: THE NAMES OF THE PHOTO STUDIOS USED AS EXAMPLES ARE NOT REAL AND IF REAL, IT IS A MERE COINCIDENCE. THANK YOU. (Had to state it clear in uppercase, Blushwithadeola does not have it in her budget to hire a lawyer, you know😂)
7. Smile and Relax : Now that you look good, you have a professional photographer and a great cheering squad what do you do?
You just “RELASS AND BE TAKEN KIARUF” ( RELAX AND BE TAKEN CARE OF)
There are many more for Models but since we are just people hoping to get clean/perfect shots for our birthdays, graduation, wedding or you just want to capture a perfect memory with the friends, well you’ve just read the basic things to do.
If you’ve missed the previous posts it’s just below. Don’t forget to share with others.
If there is anything you will like to say to the ADEOLA OF BLUSHWITHADEOLA the link to the contact page is just here.
